White Wine & Tooth Stains

In a recent study, researchers have shown that it is not only the red wine that causes tooth stains, but white wine also causes stains on our teeth. This was an amazing piece of data that really stirred a debate among many circles.

Let us take a look on the experiment that was conducted. The researchers took cow teeth, which are very much similar to human teeth. They then dipped the teeth in white wine for about an hour. Dipping teeth in wine for about an hour is similar to sipping wine while having dinner.

After keeping the teeth in white wine for one hour, the researchers then placed the teeth in a tea container. Through the help of the spectrophotometer, they found out that there was significant amount of staining as compared to the teeth that was placed for one hour in water and then placed in the tea container.

Researchers highlighted the fact that the white wine contains acids that roughens up the teeth and causes the formation of grooves on them. After having white wine, when the tooth is exposed to any other beverage that has the property to stain such as coffee, the stains penetrate deeper in the teeth and are more difficult to get rid of.

The researchers also added that still red wine has more staining potential than white wine. It is best to reduce the consumption of wine so as to prevent tooth stains. Apart from the stains, the acid in wine can also cause the enamel to wear off, which will ultimately lead to teeth sensitivity or decay.

Note: If you want further knowledge as to how you can prevent your teeth from stains due to white wine, your Reading dentist is the best available source to consult.

Some patients wonder if it’s OK to use fluoride toothpaste to brush their dental implants clean. Not only is fluoride toothpaste good to use on dental implants, it’s also vital for the health of the rest of your teeth.

This is the case because fluoride helps existing teeth stay strong and healthy by protecting the naturally occurring porcelain in your teeth. This keeps your natural teeth healthy enough to support near-by teeth implants.

Fluoride toothpaste is also good to use on teeth implants because it’s safe to use on the surfaces of most teeth implants. Furthermore, patients can also use these toothpastes because they won’t discolour the surface of the teeth implants. As a result, patients who have UK dental implants installed can lead a normal life and brush with everyday toothpastes that the rest of us use to keep our teeth clean.

Because fluoride toothpastes are safe to use on dental implants, patients who’d like to use the stuff should look for a toothpaste that combines fluoride with a smooth paste. This makes it easier to use the stuff on your dental implants. As a result, don’t be afraid to use fluoride toothpaste to clean your Manchester dental implants!

Why Do Teeth Seem to Darken With Age?

The colour difference between false teeth and an individual’s natural teeth colour can appear to be changing over time. This is especially true if a person’s natural teeth are lighter because of previous dental cleaning or bleaching, or darker due to stains or decay. In addition, dentures may wear away, chip or stain as well as develop small fractures over time. Today, denturists have the capability to amend the look of smiles and gum tissues in an attempt to fully compliment existing teeth colour or skin tone.

In many cases, teeth will seem darker with older age since plaque begins to build up faster and in larger amounts as a person gets older. Change in denture fitted may also cause teeth to start looking a little bit darker as well. For difficult to remove denture residue it is best to gargle with warm or hot salt water. The warmth of the water is beneficial to the effectiveness of this procedure, but you should only go as warm as is bearable. Subsequently, you will then use a washcloth as you begin to gently rub against your teeth, gums and the roof parts of your mouth. The reason why a wash towel is important to the procedure is that it is the wash cloth that will help loosen some of the denture glue and also serve as a material that the adhesive will easily latch onto. Once you complete your gargling and wipe your teach with the wash cloth, you ought to swish you mouth with warm water or mouthwash to rinse.

Age can lead to many issues regarding the health of a person’s teeth. Bone shrinkage leads to the denture becoming loose, losing strength, and becoming less functional. This can lead to slips while eating as well as during speaking, which can be very embarrassing. Part of natural aging involves changes in complexion, lips, and even facial muscles. These can all affect the function and appearance of your false teeth. Other factors that affect the appearance of dentures includes oral hygiene habits, drinking coffee or tea, and of course uses of tobacco products.

You notice that you are beginning to lose hair and you want to halt or reverse hair loss if you can. One of your options is a medical approach to hair restoration—using one of the medications that are offered with a claim to stop loss of hair and stimulate hair regrowth. But which one?

Choosing a hair restoration medication can appear to be a forbidding task. Dozens are advertised on the World Wide Web and in magazines or other print media. Some are “herbal”, some are “all natural”, some are pharmaceutical agents, and most are “proven effective”. What criteria should you use to choose among all of the products offered?

The gold standard for making a choice is approval of a product by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), for use in treating hair loss. Approval of a product by the FDA for treatment of hair loss means that the product has been rigorously tested for safety and efficacy in clinical trials that meet FDA standards for study design, number of persons enrolled in the trials, and statistical analysis of study data.

The most effective use of hair restoration medication is under the supervision of a physician hair restoration specialist. Treatment of hair loss by medical or surgical means is best carried out after the reason for hair loss is correctly diagnosed . For some persons, medical hair restoration is most effective when carried out in conjunction with hair transplantation or other surgical means of hair restoration.

In all cases no matter what the process or product chosen, a thorough discussion with your physician is in order, to ensure you are making the right decision for hair transplant surgery or some sort of topical application.

Ozone Therapy

Ozone Therapy is a new advancement being used by dentists in Nottingham and throughout Europe as well as Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It is waiting for approval by the FDA in America; some dentists in the UK are also using it as well.

The reason ozone therapy works is high concentrations of ozone kill bacteria quickly, and the agent in ozone is almost a thousand times more powerful than other bacteria killing agents like bleach. Clinical studies have suggested ten seconds of ozone therapy kills up to 99 percent of bacteria in a patient’s mouth including viruses and fungi.

Bacteria and decay are found in the teeth with the help of a laser, then a suction cup is used to direct the ozone onto the area it’s needed. The dentist then places an agent onto the clean area that enables the tooth to heal. Afterwards, follow visits are recommended to make sure bacteria don’t reappear.

Some of the benefits of Ozone therapy are: they eliminate the need of a drill and fillings, it eliminates the need for anesthetics, it kills almost 99 percent of bacteria in cavities, it can whiten discolored cavities, and it’s an excellent alternative for nervous and anxious patients.

Although you can find dental practices that are advanced enough to use ozone therapy, you will no doubt be paying for it. It is not outrageously expensive as a long-term preventative measure but the price will rise depending on how many teeth need to be treated. Chances are, it won’t be available through NHS or claimable on other insurance policies. Most people are however, willing to pay the extra money for something that prevents the cycle of cavity decay as good.

If your dentist does not provide ozone therapy, chances are they will know of someone who does or at least give you advise.
