By restricting the amount of heat lost from the home, the inside temperature will be far easier and cheaper to maintain.  Insulated sectional garage doors have been very popular in very cold climates for many years. They keep the inside warm even when the outside temperature is way below freezing. Energy efficient products may be more expensive to purchase in the short term but if examined over a long term period of 5-10 years, the purchase will have paid for itself in the reductions in energy bills it has been able to create. From then on the energy will be free, or available at a vastly reduced rate.
